West of Westcott
Stop #27
229 Clarendon Street / William H. Traub (& Adelia) House
- Built: 1910
- Architect: Clarence S. Congdon
This is a handsome variation of a Dutch Colonial Revival house. Like many of its type in the neighborhood, it is slotted into a long narrow lot so that its long side, originally intended as the entrance facade, is now hidden from view. The public street face consists of the gable end which is given an ample first story porch supporting a second level balcony. William H. Traub was superintendent of the University Post Office.
