DESCRIPTION:$15Coffee and desserts included!\nIn a concert featuring his own original songs\, songs written and performed by Larry Hoyt\, and other songs that Larry held dear\, noted local singer/songwriter Dana Cooke will honor the memory of one of the most important figures in the history of folk and acoustic music in Central New York. This concert takes place on the eve of Larry Hoyt’’s birthday; Hoyt\, who died last March\, would have turned 76 on March 9.\nCooke will be accompanied\, as always\, by Judy and Jeff Stanton — who\, as it turns out\, also served in Larry Hoyt’s longtime side combo\, the Good Acoustics. And Cooke will be joined by Joe Cleveland\, who\, as the talent coordinator at Happy Endings Cake and Coffeehouse and later the Folkus Project\, pioneered with Larry to the ascension of folk and acoustic music in the Syracuse-area market almost three decades ago.\nLarry Hoyt was already a well-known and oft-seen performer of his own songs and great songs by the likes of Dylan\, Guthrie\, and Cash when\, in 1997\, he created the “Common Threads” radio show on WAER-FM. He continued to present folk and acoustic music on “Common Threads” for 27 years. All that while\, he was a beloved and reliable musical performer\, giving literally hundreds of concerts in the area.\nAs both the Common Threads deejay and a local music journalist\, he championed the music of Cooke (among many\, many other local musicians). It is fitting that on March 8\, at the Steeple Coffeehouse\, Cooke (along with the Stantons and Cleveland) will present songs that Larry valued — Cooke’s own songs\, some of Larry’s best remembered compositions\, and cover songs by an assortment of national artists that Larry considered flame-keepers of great folk music.

Having explored almost every musical style\, from rock\, jazz\, and blues to classical and reggae\, Tim’s wide-ranging talent is evident each time he picks up his acoustic or electric guitar. Technically brilliant\, yet emotionally honest\, Reynolds’ music is inspired\, authentic\, and unparalleled.\nBorn 15 December 1957 in Wiesbaden\, Germany\, to devoutly religious military parents\, Reynolds had a peripatetic childhood\, moving from Alaska and throughout much of the Bible-belt Midwest\, eventually settling in St. Louis\, MO. He started playing the piano at the age of eight\, but quickly progressed to the acoustic guitar and electric bass guitar in the local church gospel band during his teens. (During this time\, he was also secretly experimenting and riffing with forbidden rock\, funk\, and soul.) After high school\, Reynolds left the constraints of his conservative upbringing and settled in Charlottesville\, VA\, where he added psychedelic and progressive rock to his burgeoning musical repertoire.\nDuring the mid-1980s\, Reynolds founded his breakthrough electric power trio\, TR3\, known for their fusion of funk\, rock\, and jazz. He toured extensively with TR3\, using a rotating cast of musicians during the 1980s and 1990s. It was also at this time that he met and befriended Dave Matthews and their ongoing musical collaboration began. However\, Tim always stayed true to his first love – the acoustic guitar. He spent the 1990s and 2000s as a road warrior – an acoustic guitar wizard playing to sold-out crowds who quickly determined that Reynolds was one of the most talented and thoughtful musicians on the circuit. From the widely-acclaimed Stream to his most recent solo masterpiece\, That Way (2017) \, Tim’s acoustic prowess and his genius for improvisation continue to burn hot.\nIn 2007\, after a chance meeting with two talented musicians\, bassist Mick Vaughn and drummer Dan Martier\, a few rehearsals later\, and several stealth appearances throughout North Carolina\, Tim resurrected the electric TR3 to widespread delight. TR3 featuring Tim Reynolds continues to tour and release critically-acclaimed live and studio albums\, including their most recent live album\, Wild in the Sky (2022).\nAlthough the pandemic halted Tim’s busy schedule as lead guitarist for the Dave Matthews Band in 2020\, it gave him the gift of time and space to create new music\, explore new technology\, dig deep into his vault\, and reconnect and collaborate with old friends. Tim had a great time collaborating with his long-time friend and fellow musician\, Mike Sokolowski\, on the album\, Soul Pilgrimage (August 2021\, Breezeway Records).\nTim released his first digital download\, the ethereal Venus Transit (July 2020) along with a goldmine of mostly original music videos on his YouTube channel\, as well as a few covers\, including his interpretations of Bach’s Cello Suite in G and Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes.” He introduced some of the new original songs live on the road with TR3 during their Winter 2022 tour. Tim thought the addition of the rhythm section would provide a fresh spin to his iconic solo acoustic style\, while making the music more accessible to the fans who are accustomed to the historically electric rock power trio.\nTim’s excited to get back on the road doing what he loves – from surprising fans nationwide with his rare solo performances\, melting faces with TR3\, and touring with DMB. Word spread\, drawing crowds of thousands at festivals such as Electric Forest and Camp Bisco.\nShortly after the Bus’s first route\, Jaenga’s inspiration was booming with the essence of the “underground” and he channeled that feeling into his first EP which was picked up by Deadbeats. Jam packed with hip hop acapellas crossed with traditional bass music\, this release propelled him into the Deadbeats community\, where he joined Zeds Dead on several stops around the country. Since his first EP\, Jaenga has gone on to release on Deadbeats several more times along with SubCarbon\, 19k\, WAKAAN\, SSKWAN\, MorFlo Records\, Insomniac Radio to name a few. He has played at some of the most iconic venues in the country\, including Red Rocks\, the Hampton Coliseum\, Aragon Theater\, Webster Hall and many more.\nPat fully embraces his art\, creating mostly everything from the posters\, album art\, show visuals\, Instagram skit (also the music of course).\nAlthough is been a while since those first bus parties years ago\, Pat still throws spontaneous pop-up parties with his secret text hotline\, bringing hundreds of eager fans to unique locations.
