DESCRIPTION:The son of an English professor and an opera singer\, Ned Evett is one of the world’s foremost fretless guitarists\, creating music that both celebrates and transcends the novelty of his instrument.\n\n\n“The world’s first fretless guitar rockstar” -Guitar Player Magazine\nBorn in Nashville Tennessee\, Ned started playing ukelele at age 11\, graduating to his first guitar at 15. At 16\, Ned got his first classical guitar and gave his first professional performance as a guitarist.\n\n\nIn 1984\, Ned witnessed King Crimson ‘Sleepless Live in Japan’ on MTV\, and was mesmerized by the fretless guitar wielded by Adrian Belew; this chance viewing would come full circle years later.\n\n\nIntent upon developing a distinct style and sound on electric guitar\, Ned benefited from Fulltone custom effects founder Mike Fuller working at a local guitar shop. He introduced Ned to the basic concepts of electric guitar tone\, loaning him pedals and guitars to experiment with.\n\n\nNed won a college scholarship to study classical guitar\, but a Michael Hedges performance in 1986 changed the course of his life; he dropped out of college to pursue songwriting and electric guitar full time. He spent the next five years traveling across the US playing six nights a week with numerous bands.\n\n\n” The master of the fretless glass-necked guitar ” -USA Today\nNew years eve 1990\, Ned had had enough of cover bands. He smashed his strat onstage and built his first fretless guitar from the neck which survived intact. He appeared with his fretless acoustic in the May 1993 issue of Fingerstyle Guitar Magazine\, then on record with Warner Brothers recording artists Built To Spill in 1994.

DESCRIPTION:Black Flag is an American band formed in 1976 in Hermosa Beach\, California\, by guitarist\, primary songwriter\, and sole continuous member Greg Ginn. Their discography includes seven studio albums and two live albums. The band has released all of their material on Ginn’s independent label\, SST Records beginning with 1981’s Damaged. Vocalist Mike Vallely\, first sang with the band as a guest vocalist in 2003\, before becoming the band’s fifth vocalist in 2014.

July 27\, 2024 to the community. \nCome try playing these drums called DUN-DUN drums. We play with the sticks while standing because you will do some dance steps through the rhythm that you will do. \nBut we will add some new steps. And there are also other dances that we will do with the DunDun drums. \nCome try. It is open to all. SUMMARY:Summer in the Cemetery Guided Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:“The Tree of Liberty.” Central N.Y. was a hotbed of the Abolition movement\, and many of its participants are here in Oakwood. We are hoping Mrs. Amos P. Granger (aka Sue Greenhagen) will be available to tell these stories. \nThese tours are presented by HOCPA board members and made possible thanks to the support of Oakwood Management. Please use the Oakwood Main Entrance on Comstock across from the Islamic Society of CNY. Look for the tour signs and follow the arrows to the parking and tour meeting place. All tours begin at 2 pm. \nAllow two hours for the tour. Please wear comfortable shoes. All tours are free\, but donations are accepted. We tour\, rain or shine\, but not during thunder and lightning. Oakwood souvenirs will be available for purchase at the tours.
