SUMMARY:NILE SINGERS PLAY SUPERTRAMP & TEARS FOR FEARS
DESCRIPTION:Nile Singers play Supertramp’s “Breakfast in America” and “Songs from the Big Chair” by Tears for Fears\n\nSaturday\, June 18\nDoors at 7 pm\, show at 8 pm\n$15 in advance\, $20 day-of-show\n\nNile Singers reimagine classic albums with love and abandon. It’s not a tribute band\, per se\, since they don’t feel beholden to note-for-note fidelity. Instead\, Nile Singers take well-loved albums and make the music their own. Did Pink Floyd have a horn section? A woman singing Mick Jagger? Flute\, clarinet\, and bowed string bass instead of synth? Nile Singers say an emphatic\, “Yes\, please!”\n\nBeginning on a lark to play Floyd they grew up loving\, Nile Singers moved on to Supertramp\, then The Stones\, and now Tears for Fears. For their June 18 show at the Westcott Theater\, they’ll play Supertramp’s “Breakfast in America” followed by their latest adventure\, “Songs from the Big Chair” by Tears for Fears.\n\nSo many huge hits: from “The Logical Song” to “Take the Long Way Home\,” and from “Shout” to “Head Over Heels\,” there is a pile of material that’s burned into the psyche of a generation. But the deep tracks on both albums are outstanding as well. Might there be surprises from Floyd or the Stones? Hmmm…\n\nNile Singers comprises members of original bands on the Rags Records label\, including Violet Mary\, Sub Sentry\, Prog Gnostic\, and Public Water Supply. The band was built around multi-instrumentalists and a fantastic assortment of singers. When they hit the Big Choruses\, the sound is majestic. And essentially\, it’s a big\, ol’ sing-along party!

SUMMARY:Root Shock
DESCRIPTION:Conscious\, soulful\, even healing—that’s how many fans of Root Shock have described the band’s infectious sound and energy. They’ve developed a voice that transcends genre but can make anyone move their body and uplift their spirit.\nSpearheaded by the powerhouse vocals of Jessica Brown\, the Root Shock sound is at once commanding and cathartic\, but never at the expense of a velvety\, carefully placed jazz or neo-soul lick. Phil Grajko’s smooth earthy vocals complement his guitar style inspired by Latin\, prog\, and psychedelic rock textures—often in tandem with mad keyboard genius Brian Lauri. Rounding out the band\, bassist Elliot Jarvis and drummer Tyre Outerbridge make for a formidable rhythm section fluent in patterns ranging from reggae to\nfunk to reggaeton and maybe even metal.\n\n\nIn 2016\, Root Shock released a self-titled album\, produced by Jason “Jocko” Randall at More Sound Studio\, and followed that up with the “Many Paths” EP in 2018 & the Waves single in 2019. These recordings are proof of the band’s democratic songwriting process\, with thoughtful lyrics from Brown and Grajko that invoke hope in dark times\, warn against injustice\, and imagine a future where everyone is free to be who they are. Always honest and thought provoking.\n\n\nToday\, Root Shock is bringing their renowned live show to clubs\, festivals\, and concert halls across the Northeast and beyond\, delighting audiences from all walks of life with a positive message and danceable tunes.

SUMMARY:DONNA THE BUFFALO
DESCRIPTION:Donna The Buffalo is not just a band\, rather one might say that Donna The Buffalo has become a lifestyle for its members and audiences. Since 1989\, the roots rockers have played thousands of shows and countless festivals including Bonnaroo\, Newport Folk Festival\, Telluride\, Austin City Limits Festival\, Merle Fest\, and Philadelphia Folk Festival. They’ve opened for The Dead and have toured with Peter Rowan\, Del McCoury\, Los Lobos\, Little Feat\, Jim Lauderdale\, Rusted Root\, and Railroad Earth to name a few. They also toured with Ben & Jerry’s co-founder Ben Cohen to help raise awareness about increased corporate spending in politics. In 1991\, the band started the Finger Lakes Grassroots Festival in Trumansburg\, NY. The four day festival has become an annual destination for over 15\,000 music lovers every year and was started as an AIDS benefit. It continues as a benefit for arts and education. To date\, the event has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars and is now one of three Grassroots Festivals; the Bi-annual Shakori Hills fest in North Carolina and Virginia Key festival in Florida. In 2016 GrassRoots Culture Camp was introduced in Trumansburg\, New York as four days of music\, art\, dance and movement workshops\, including nightly dinners and dances.

SUMMARY:SLIPPERY WHEN WET
DESCRIPTION:Slippery When Wet – The Ultimate Bon Jovi Tribute was formed in 2003 by Jason Morey after answering many inquiries of “Are you Jon Bon Jovi?”. Most notably comedian Dave Chappelle invited Jason backstage following one of his comedy shows thinking that he was the New Jersey icon. It was then that Jason knew he had to take advantage of the resemblance.\nIt’s a good thing that Jason grew up on classic albums such as “Slippery When Wet” and “New Jersey”. Not to mention that he was also playing a few Bon Jovi songs in his widely successful tribute to the halcyon days of metal “The White Leppard Crue”.\nSlippery When Wet – The Ultimate Bon Jovi Tribute has taken exact live arrangements from Bon Jovi’s 2000’s Crush tour \, 2002’s Bounce tour \, 2005’s Have a Nice Day tour\, 2008’s Lost Highway tour and 2010’s The Circle tour to form what Jason refers to as an “Arena- Club Show”. With further explanation Jason thinks that “Slippery When Wet has the power to turn a 600-1500 capacity club into a 20\,000 seat arena for 2 1/2 hours”.\nBon Jovi’s career spans 30+ years and over 130 million albums sold worldwide. Another milestone that the band has achieved is that they have tracked 14 Billboard top ten singles of which 8 of those went straight to number 1. In 2018 Bon Jovi was inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. Slippery When Wet believes that Bon Jovi has the right kind of song catalog that really lends itself to being performed live as well as fitting into a broad age range that makes for the perfect club demographic.\nSlippery When Wet has played over 1600 shows throughout the U.S. alone and has traveled to Africa\, Mexico\, Singapore\, Puerto Rico\, Honduras and the Dominican Republic. They have headlined on over 60 cruises on the Royal Caribbean cruise line and played the pre game of Super Bowl 48 in East Rutherford NJ.The bands shows are the most attended and highest grossing of any Bon Jovi Tribute in the country.\nSlippery When Wet is the most searched Bon Jovi tribute band on Google as well it has the most views of any Bon Jovi tribute band on Youtube. In 2007 the band was officially authorized by Bon Jovi to perform their highly entertaining show.\nIn 2018 Jason Morey was chosen to perform as their only impersonator to Jon Bon Jovi in the Legends in Concert show in Las Vegas.\nIn 2019 Slippery When Wet was handpicked to perform on both Runaway to Paradise Cruises with Jon Bon Jovi\nIn 2021 Slippery When Wet was a Finalist after being competing on Jimmy Fallon’s Clash of the Cover Bands on E!.\nTheir drive \, musical ability \, showmanship and dedication to duplicating the Bon Jovi live experience simply cannot be outdone.

SUMMARY:FIVIO FOREIGN LIVE IN CONCERT!
DESCRIPTION:A quintessential part of living in New York City’s largest borough\, Brooklyn\, especially for those with sharp ears\, is witnessing the speed at which an infectious song can travel. From brownstone stoops to car stereos\, Brooklyn blocks are the ultimate lab for testing the mad science of a hit record. Every summer\, a slew of tracks face off to claim the season’s title\, and one of Brooklyn drill’s hottest contenders\, rapper Fivio Foreign’s “Big Drip”\, took the city by storm. Released in the summer of 2019\, the song boasts millions of streams across platforms and its accompanying video surpassing 75 million views on YouTube.\n\nFivio is New York born and bred\, raised in and around Brooklyn’s Fort Greene and East Flatbush neighborhoods. He’s been rapping all his life—”We used to rap in the room with a computer\, me\, my cousin Nate\, we was always lit.” Charming and confident\, the telltale signs of a New York hustler – it wasn’t until 2018\, following the death of his mother and after years of recording and putting songs out casually\, that Fivio began to take his craft seriously. Now a major player in Brooklyn’s burgeoning drill music scene\, Fivio has collaborated most with UK producer AXL Beats\, who also lent his talents to “Wetty”\, “Jumpin’” and Rich The Kid-assisted “Richer Than Ever”. “I feel like my music is like me\,” Fivio says about his growing catalog of party-ready heat. “It’s fun\, turnt up\, and loud\, but serious at the same time.\n\nFivio was coined his name due to an innocent miscommunication: “My son Dot named me. He was like ‘You remind me of Fabio’\, but I thought he said Fivio because I don’t know Fabio\,” he admits. “I actually like the number 6 better\,” he says\, adding that his name has nothing to do with numerology. The story of Fivio’s name is emblematic of his easy going nature and his will to have fun as often as possible. In the video for “Big Drip”\, a raucous crew takes over ice cream trucks and cocks nerf water guns while women twerk along to the summer anthem. But as lighthearted as he is in person and in his music\, Fivio’s life hasn’t been a walk in the park. To the contrary\, it’s the joy he finds in making music that keeps him going.\n\nStill\, he considers the moments leading up to the launch of his career as divinely calculated. “I got signed on my mother’s birthday\, and I got the keys to my first house on the day that she died\,” he says with conviction. On where’s he’s headed\, Fivio is wide-eyed with big dreams: “I’m ushering in a new wave. I know for a fact that I’m here to do something bigger than me. I want everyone to start knowing my face like how they know my music.” It doesn’t get more New York than that. \n\n

SUMMARY:ALL THEM WITCHES
DESCRIPTION:A versatile hard rock quartet based out of Nashville\, Tennessee\, All Them Witches draw from a deep well of musical inspiration that includes Blue Cheer\, Black Sabbath\, Sun\, Moon & Herbs-era Dr. John\, and the electric Delta swamp blues of Junior Kimbrough. Employing a heady\, D.I.Y. blend of bluesy\, neo-psychedelic rock\, stoner metal\, and progressive space rock\, they emerged in 2012 with the independently released Our Mother Electricity. They continued to hone their unique meld of crafted songwriting and spacious grooves on subsequent outings like Sleeping Through the War (2015) and ATW (2018)\, the latter two of which arrived on New West Records.\nFronted by bassist Charles Michael Parks\, Jr.\, the lineup is rounded out by drummer Robby Staebler\, guitarist Ben McLeod\, and Allan Van Cleave on Fender Rhodes\, organ\, and other instruments. Parks met Staebler while they were working at “a corporate hippie store.” Staebler gave him some music he had been writing and playing with McLeod; it inspired Parks to jam with them. Staebler’s pal\, keyboardist Van Cleave\, was also invited and All Them Witches were born.
