Saturday, October 29th, was a doggone lovely morning in the Westcott Neighborhood, and scores of four-footed Westcotters took the opportunity to dress and parade a 1/2 mile through neighborhood streets. Maybe their humans had something to do with it, too. The sun was out, the leaves were a swirl of bright colors, and the dogs looked great as lions, Hogwarts students, hot dogs, superheros, bread loafs, demons, bats, and much more.  Dogs and people were well behaved with only the occasional woof and bark and yap and yip, and no dogfights. There were many more dog treats than tricks.

Thanks to WNA’s Events Committee for putting this together – that’s Kim McCoy, Susannah Jackson Park, Carol Johnson, Sam Gruber, Andrea Buckvold, and Marilyn Zaleon. And thanks to the Onondaga County Library Leadership for their unhesitating agreement to co-sponsor. Thanks to all the kids who helped carry the WNA banner, to Heather Williams who donated dog treats and helped Kim and Andrea ladle out the witch’s brew (hot cider) and donuts, and to new WNA member Kerry Thurston who took on photo duty.

Thanks to everyone who helped spread the word and turned out for the fun. We hope to do it again next year – probably on October 28th – so mark your calendar!

This event developed because it was member-suggested, and members worked on the details.  Do you have an event you’d like to see happen in the Westcott Neighborhood? We’re looking to book some indoor winter events, and are already looking ahead to the spring for some fun times.
