This was originally built as a large single family home. Architecturally, the eclectic style reflects the changes in home design at the turn of the 20th century. The house combines a Dutch Colonial style gambrel roof popular in the first years of the 1900s, but still maintains a projecting polygonal bay (on Euclid Avenue) and a rich assortment of projecting dormers still reminiscent of the Queen Anne style. The brick porch probably replaced an earlier wooden one. The house has contained a basement level grocery store for many decades.
