The Old Neighborhood Part I
Stop #10
453 Westcott Street
- Built: 1890s
- Architect: Unknown
This modest Queen Anne house retains it original form, especially in the upper section with decorative brackets and gables. Originally it would have been covered with narrow clapboards which probably still exist beneath its more recent aluminum siding. Still, the original decorative shingles remain visible in the gable. The window frames are also original, but the house has lost its original front door. Its rough stone foundation is the norm for most local houses built before 1900.
This house was once almost identical to itsĀ neighbor, #445. The two were probably built together.
