Greenwood Place leads to Thornden Park, which is entered through a “gateway” of stone piers on either side of the roadway. It is not known whether there was ever a barrier at this site. Similar gateways were erected at the boundaries of various “Garden Suburbs”, such as Scottholm (see Scottholm tour) developed in the 1920s.
