This simple Colonial Revival house is typical of the infill houses of the 1920s that added greater density to Allen Street. Because these houses were rotated 90 degrees to fit the narrow urban lots the main entrance is moved to the side, in this and in most cases directly off a narrow driveway. This adaptation allows the inclusion of a  porch facing the street. Unlike earlier porches in the neighborhood, however, this one can only be reached from within the house. It does not serve as a transitional space between public and private realms. Instead, it is more like an extension of the living room, just as earlier upper porches were extensions from bedrooms.
