The Old Neighborhood Part I
Stop #66
713 South Beech Street
- Built: Before 1892
- Architect: Unknown
This house has a slightly more complex arrangement of the type seen at #735. Here protruding bays are added to the facade giving more depth and movement to the surface, and also projecting the front parlor out to receive more light – from three directions. The projecting bay allows for another gable at the top of the building; a smaller version of the large roof gable. Together, the two create the effect of a nested pair of projecting triangles. Within these are set small windows, and also a surface pattern of different shaped and colored shingles.
