The Old Neighborhood Part I
Stop #69
726 South Beech Street
- Built: 1860-1870
- Architect: Unknown
The main part of this residence is a wood-frame and wood-sided cubic Italianate house, probably erected in third quarter of the 19th century. Larger more imposing masonry versions of this type of house can be seen elsewhere in Syracuse, especially on major roads leading into the city. The two-car garage added to the south side of the house upsets the intended geometry of the structure but provides an useful amenity to the owner.
