Witchcraft in Colonial America: The Road to Salem
Hosted by: Petit Branch Library
Join us as we explore how witchcraft in Colonial America culminated into the famous eleven-month ordeal centered on Salem, MA, in 1692-1693. This talk will cover beliefs about magic, sorcery, and the occult in Europe and Colonial America; bring to light other episodes of witchcraft persecution in the colonies; and address the final, famous episode in Salem, MA. The presenter is Dr. Sara French, a visiting lecturer at SUNY-ESF, historian, and genealogist who has traced her own family heritage back to an accused Salem witch.
