The Old Neighborhood Part I
Stop #59
118 Dell Street / F. Cone House
- Built: ca. 1892
- Architect: Unknown
This frame house is among the oldest on the street and is similar to several on South Beech. Stylistically, it is a simple version of the ornate Queen Anne style prevalent in the 1880s, notable for variegated profiles and surfaces and a mix of ornament and surface texture.
This house especially preserves much of its original form, but has lost original decoration of the type still next door at #112. The house is built close to the sidewalk (first added in the late 1890s) and does not seem have had a front porch. The porch on right has been rebuilt.
